I thought i heard something.

It was four in the morning - sleep wouldn't come
I kept hearing noises when there ought to he none
Now that you've left me for somebody else
I guess T wasn't used to sleeping by myself

I thought I heard something - I thought I heard something
I thought I heard something so I turned on the light
But it was only my heart going hump in the night

Rain on the window - wind at the door
These kind of things I can always ignore
I'm not scared of being home alone
Just terrified of waking up on my own

I thought I heard something - I thought I heard something
I thought I heard something so I got out of bed
It was only your memory running through my head

The tick of the clock - the hoot of an owl
My next door neighbour out on the prowl
The sound of your key, baby, turning the lock
All of these things Lord I knew it was not

I thought I heard something - I thought I heard something
I thought I heard something so I opened the door
It was only my teardrops hitting the floor

I thought I heard something - I thought I heard something
I thought I heard something so I turned on a light
But it was only my heart going bump in the night
